Max Lipsey
“I am interested in the moment when a circle is confronted by reality, gravity, material, and other “perfect” circles.”
Internal and External Forces are made with a springy material that could theoretically form a perfect circle when in a vacuum and if forces like gravity and mass were in equilibrium. However, this seems to be an unlikely situation in our dynamic and chaotic world. Determined by movement and interaction, the resulting forms are more appealing to Max Lipsey than the idea of a circle floating in a gravity-free space.
Internal and External Forces by Max Lipsey is now on display in the Kazerne expo The Circle – Dutch Invertuals. Curious? Come and have a look! We are open daily from noon.
