Carbyon – Envisioning Carbon Capture

Carbyon develops Direct Air Capture machines to filter CO2 from the air. The captured CO2 can be stored to be permanently removed or can be reused to produce synthetic fuels, crops or sustainable concrete. The Dutch startup was founded in 2019 as a spin-off company from the research institute TNO. Its goal is to create affordable and scalable technology that can be used to stop climate change.

Direct Air Capture is novel technology unknown to many of us. It is not clear yet how they will impact the landscape and where they will be placed on large scale. To find out how Carbyon’s solution could look like when it’s placed in different locations around the world, Carbyon want to bring art & technology together. They have invited 4 young future designers to think about 4 “future concepts” of what the outside of the “structures” could look like.

Carbyon Impact Creator Beatrix Bos and designers Joshua Holetz, Lotte Wigman en Joram Sion will share how they started with their concepts and where they are heading to.
