Designer Martha Nash Wins Kazerne Design Award 2024

EINDHOVEN – On May 7th, designer Martha Nash won the fifth Kazerne Design Award. This prestigious prize, intended to encourage recent graduates of the Design Academy Eindhoven, includes an exhibition of the nominated work, a cash prize of 5,000 euros, and significant recognition in the design world.

Martha Nash, from the United Kingdom, received the award for her innovative project ‘MarthaMarthaMarthacoin’. In this work, she humorously explores the impact of cryptocurrencies and financial systems. She created the first analog cryptocurrency, the ‘MarthaMarthaMarthacoin’, and a unique exchange system with ceramic piglets. This approach makes complex and often abstract subjects like cryptocurrency tangible and understandable.

In addition to Martha Nash, nominees for the Kazerne Design Award 2024 included Alissa Guillouet, Seungbee Han, Ben van Kemenade, Niels Nijman, Daan Overgaag, Pierre Salaün, Clemens Tomlow, Lotte Wigman, and Willem Zwiers.

The jury consisted of Kiki van Eijk (Kiki and Joost), Annemoon Geurts (Kazerne), Jan Hoorntje (Rotary Club Eindhoven-Soeterbeek), and Daphna Isaacs (Daphna Laurens). The exhibition featuring the work of all nominees can be visited until the end of September at Kazerne, Paradijslaan 2-8 in Eindhoven. Visitors are welcome from Monday to Saturday starting at 12:00 PM, and admission is free.
